Wastewater Treatment and Reclamation Facility – Ben Gurion International Airport

Description
Name:Wastewater Treatment and Reclamation Facility – Ben Gurion International Airport
Location:Ben Gurion International Airport
Year:2007-2004

DHV MED designed the wastewater treatment and reclamation system for Ben Gurion International Airport (Ben Gurion 2000), including a waste treatment facility, purified covered wastewater reservoir and a reused water distribution system, for the Israel Airports Authority.

The treatment facility includes wastewater from the Ben Gurion International Airport, Israel Aerospace Industries and El-Al Israel Airlines, with total design capacity of 5.3 MLD. The facility is based on membrane technology (MBR), the most advanced municipal wastewater treatment technology in Israel and worldwide.

The purified effluent in the facility is fully utilized, replacing potable water for cooling towers supply, gardening and irrigation, and, in the future, for industrial use.
