Catchment Area Management
In the past, each municipal authority and country managed the rivers and other water bodies in their regions. Today, all over the world catchment area management has become a widespread trend for managing rivers and other bodies of water. This approach is based on the European Union's Water Framework Directive (link), which treats each catchment area as a single unit, regardless of political or administrative borders.
In accordance with catchment area management policy, DHV MED has created tools for water pollution analysis, sensitivity analysis, and identification of pollution sources in the catchment area, as well as Decision Support Systems (DSS) in the area of improving water quality. These tools have been implemented successfully in a number of projects in Israel.
