Municipal runoff management – Tel Aviv Municipality

Purpose

Prevention of flooding and prevention of damage to infrastructures and private sector, improvement of the quality of life for residents in areas suffering from drainage infrastructure defects.

The challenge

Finding an optimal drainage solution for runoff management throughout the drainage basin, for solving the flooding problem without enlarging the channeling system.

Our part in the project management

The Company’s hydrology team serves as the engineering consultant for the Tel Aviv Municipality in the fields of surface runoff management and flood prevention. To this end, the existing system in the Hatikva neighborhood has been measured and tested, the drainage system has been redesigned using the SWMM model and modifications to the drainage plans have been recommended. In this way, bottlenecks and environmental constraints have been identified, with the aim of preventing the familiar scenes of winter floods due to strong rainfall, in an attempt to utilize existing infrastructures as far as possible and avoid further infrastructure work.
